If this looks at all familiar to you, perhaps you recall the extra-trippy Sid and Marty Krofft show HR Pufnstuf. In the late 1960's, apparently this was perfectly appropriate children's programming:
Actually, come to think of it, this commercial perhaps more closely resembles the Mr. Show interpretation of good old Pufnstuf and his merry pals...
I think someone at Friskies spent a nice long weekend in the Altered State of Druggachusettes...
Oh my god, I hate that Friskies commercial! I wondered from the get-go why they would waste so much time and effort on a song and elaborate (and stupid) commercial for cat food. sorry for my lack of eloquence, but it is so ghey. This, on the other hand, is hilarious: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FtX8nswnUKU&feature=related
ReplyDeleteHa! Friskies should just use that video instead. "Brainstorm!" "Magic!" "Cat food!" It would probably be more appropriate than what they're currently using.
ReplyDeleteI think the idea evolved from the tagline, "Feed the Senses." Their website has this whole experiential section where you can test out how things would look or sound if you were a cat. In theory, it's an interesting concept. In reality, however, it's just a freaky psychedelic mess.
i would sooner kill my cat to spare him the bad trip.
